NERF N-STRIKE LONGSHOT CS-6

I saw something really frightening today...It's called the Nerf N-Strike Longshot. Back in the day, you could count on nerf to hook you up with a good old fashioned sling shot, or foam darts...or just plain foam balls. Now, nerf has apparently decided to start recruiting snipers for the military! Click here for the really frightening commercial (I couldn't find it on YouTube, so you'll have to just go watch it)!

What the heck is happing in this world??? Is this really the type of toy we want our children playing with? Do kids need a "gun" that can fire foam "arrows" up to 35 feet? Isn't there enough violence in the world. I don't think I really want to teach my kids how to take people out from the top of a tower! Below is the description from the Nerf website of this "toy":

"Take your blasting skills to the extreme with this two-in-one blaster! This blaster is more than three feet long and can launch foam arrows up to 35 feet away! Aim with accuracy and precision using the targeting scope. Two quick-reload clips hold a total of 12 STREAMLINE DARTS. There’s even a fold-down bi-pod to help you steady your aim for important shots. Looking for a quick shot at close range? The blaster has removable parts to give you one-handed freedom with a single-shot blaster! In either mode, load up, aim, press the trigger and watch the darts go the distance!

Includes blaster, 2 quick-reload clips and 12 STREAMLINE DARTS.

CAUTION: Do not aim at eyes or face.
TO AVOID INJURY: Use only darts designed for this product.
Do not modify darts or dart blaster."

Thank God for the bipod fold down! I'd hate to miss my target (aka, my little sisters eyes...oh wait, there's a warning against that...) because of an unsteady hand. I'm freaked out by this toy. What is this world coming to? Are we really surprised that the whole world is trying to kill each other? Are we really surprised that kids see violence as a normal every day event? Are we really surprised when kids go around hurting other kids, or even killing them???? I've never been one to rally against toy guns or playing "cop and robber" but I vow here and now that my children will NEVER play with a sniper gun, or anything remotely like it!
